The production of special foods such as food supplements, foods for special medical purposes, fortified foods and others, is subject to a series of authorization issues by the competent authorities such as the regions and the Ministry of Health that require complex practices on several fronts.

Producing special foods, as in the case of food supplements, presents us with problems that extend both to the authorizations that must be obtained to produce them and to the manufacturing methods.

In addition to authorization procedures, care must be taken to manage quality policies according to the general principles of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
These guidelines show us the path to follow for the construction of the premises, the training of personnel, and everything needed to make the products that will be manufactured within the production areas safe.
It is also necessary to integrate the G.M.P with H.A.C.C.P. manual, which is an international standard applied to the food companies for the check of the critical control point in the production process.
Since they are not standard food products but are closer to pharmaceutical such as tablets, sachets, liquids, ampoules, and more, the selection of machinery must be shrewd and calibrated according to the objectives to be achieved.
